Hayden Heights Library

Hayden Heights Library, a 12,000 SF single‑story neighborhood branch, serves Saint Paul’s Greater East Side. Originally constructed in the late 1970s, the library is being comprehensively renovated as part of the Public Library’s Transforming Libraries initiative to better support today’s community needs.

The project reimagines the existing footprint to create a more welcoming, flexible, and accessible environment. Renovations include upgraded building systems, improved visibility and daylighting, enhanced technology, and reconfigured interior spaces that support learning, collaboration, and community gatherings. New and improved children’s, teen, study, and community spaces strengthen the library’s role as a local civic hub.

When complete, the renovated Hayden Heights Library will provide a modern, inclusive space that supports lifelong learning, creativity, and meaningful community connection for neighbors of all ages.
