Hennepin County Emergency Communications Center
The Hennepin County Emergency Communications Center is a state-of-the-art facility, designed to replace the outdated building previously located in Golden Valley. The new hub manages emergency calls, radio dispatch, and technical services. It serves 37 communities, 23 law enforcement agencies, and 21 fire departments in the region.
Throughout the construction process, the needs of personnel and the community were prioritized to ensure efficiency and functionality. The facility is strategically located to optimize response times and accessibility and contains 21 dispatch consoles, a 7,000 square foot data center, and a 9,500 square foot garage dedicated to servicing communications equipment in emergency vehicles.
The building’s infrastructure stability is ensured through the use of robust materials, guaranteeing its reliability and longevity. To further enhance the facility, comprehensive security measures, including surveillance cameras, access control systems, and alarms, have been integrated into the design. The project adhered to the State of Minnesota’s Buildings, Benchmarks & Beyond (B3) guidelines for sustainability. Seventy-five percent of the construction waste generated during construction was diverted for reuse or recycling.
This facility stands as a testament to the commitment to public safety and efficient emergency response in Hennepin County.
