Hyland Hills Chalet
The new, 36,000 SF chalet doubles the size of the original Three Rivers Park District chalet built in 1974. The project included the demolition of the existing chalet and construction of the new facility, with a separate building for the ski patrol. In an effort to ease congestion and reduce traffic, Stahl also completed parking lot and site improvements.
The new facility showcases several unique features including a butterfly roof, copper flashing and base, board formed concrete, and a window wall opening to the ski hill. The project adhered to the State of Minnesota’s Buildings, Benchmarks & Beyond (B3) guidelines for sustainability. It was completed while keeping the slopes open to the public.
