St. Francis City Hall and Fire Station
In response to significant growth and the increasing need for expanded city services, the City of St. Francis embarked on a project to enhance its municipal services. This was prompted by a surge in population and rising demands for infrastructure, permitting, and civic engagement. The outcome of these efforts is a new City Hall and Fire Department.
The former City Hall faced numerous challenges including energy efficiency, aging building needs, and inadequate space for staff and operations. As the city grew and expanded, the administration demands grew along with it. This growth resulted in additional roads, permitting requests, and utility needs.
Similarly, the former Fire Department, which operated out of a structure built in 1965, had its own set of challenges. Despite several additions made to keep up with residential needs, the building had received little in terms of updates. Issues that needed to be addressed included aging doors, paint, flooring, and lighting; outdated ventilation and heating systems; and the need for upgraded apparatus and storage.
The new City Hall and Fire Department stands as an improved community asset that sets the standard for the downtown corridor. It houses city council chambers, training and conference rooms, a fitness room, fire bunks and day rooms, apparatus bays, a public plaza, and ample parking, all in one convenient location.
